I have one of the XXX with all my gear plugged into it and has maybe 20 hours on it.
Resolution and midrange are gorgeous, but the bass seems a bit lacking.Does this improve over break in?
Follow Ups:
The SWO-XXX will likely sound leaner in the bass than what it replaced. In this case "leaner" is a result of being "more articulate", IMHO. This is just my opinion based on my experience of the SWO-XXX as compared to many other AC outlet's. Other folk's MMV.Like other audio devices that provide a more articulated bass (fast amps/woofers, low dielectric involvement cables/capacitors, for example); lower frequencies tend to sound faster/tighter/with "less bass" due to less ringing after the musical bass transient has stopped. A lower octave bass fundamental's pitch definition is very sensitive to transient rise/fall time since a music note is poorly defined if bass is sloppy, as it "blurs the note" and tends to "add bass" to the presentation. Does the SWO-XXX actually offer improved transient rise/fall time? I don't know, but it "sounds like it" to my ear. It does *not* lack an authoritative bass, IME.
I've found that a good test of what's a "more accurate" bass portrayal per a device is to listen to how well grouped bass instrument's individuated timbral information is reproduced, such as a stringed bass and a kick drum, and where the drum kit is recorded in an ambient-rich recording venue with well-captured reverberant information. If the low frequencies sound more unified than individuated; as though the bass information is sourced more from a single instrument rather than from multiple, then it tends to show me that a device's bass reproduction is less than accurate when comparing it with another that sounds more correct to my ear. my 2 cents

....depending on the mix of power cabling and associated gear, the XXX usually does sound 'leaner' than the other Oyaide flavors. This also comes off (to some ears) as bass-reticent. If someone is interested in a fuller, richer midrange and bass presentation, I recommend the GX. I love both formulations (especially in combination), but the GX definitely has soul, and a gestalt to the presentation that I've not heard elsewhere.
Based on my experience of the SWO-GX AC outlet's AC plug counterpart (gold plated P-079), both in combination with the palladium SWO-XXX and when mated with other AC outlets, I very much agree that the gold plated Oyaide's have "soul" :-)Have you tried a gold SWO-GX AC outlet mated with a palladium P-046 AC plug? I wonder if that mating is more or less the same as the reversed-in-order-of-the-chain-platings...

It shouldn't take more than a couple days. You may need to also retune your system as I had to but
it is well worth it.Cheers,
Firstly, the overall conditioning depends whether you have pre-conditioned the unit on a high current device, or whether you simply installed it in your wall and are waiting for the results. If the latter is the case, then you will require a few more days for the unit to come into it's own. Be patient....it's worth it.

I installed the outlet as soon as I received it.I will wait for a few more days for the break-in.
BTW I am now looking for a double sheilded cryo'd power cord with 10 or 12 gauge solid core copper wiring and Oyaide connectors.Any ideas?
Scott
