Hi All,I'm no engineer so some terms I read on the web am not too sure and hope you can provide some help.
1. What is a shunt? There are some tips on replacing certain resistors in a CD Player with Shunt......
2. How to bridge a capacitor? Again, tips from modding a CD player.
3. How to revive an old electrolytic cap? I know there are some tips on reviving some old elec caps and make it sound new.
Many thanks in advance.

The tips you are thinking of under your item 3. have to do with applying power to an old piece of tube gear that has been unplugged for many years. The electrolytic capacitors in such gear may be hard to replace, and may be restored to functioning condition if the voltage on them is brought up very slowly. However, old capacitors may simply be exhausted. The electrolyte in them is a moist paste, and the water may have escaped. This increases their internal resistance and weakens their dielectric layers, so that they are dangerous to use.

A shunt is a circuit path between + and ground. If you put a shunt resistor in between your source and amp you can reduce the voltage (volume) of the signal. I've never modded a CDP so I don't know about the application you're talking about.Bridging is adding a signal path to both leads on the device. To bridge a cap with another component simply solder the leads of that component on to the leads of the cap. If you add a cap you'll increase the capacitance. If you bridge a resistor with a resistor you'll decrease the overall resistance.

Bridging a cap is to connect one or more additional caps in parellel. Caps in parellel are additive (cumultive) in value.
