Dilling out, thats an idea I had not considered. I thought that the pcb holes are copper lined. Drilling out would remove this copper.the PC is secured with a piece of wood glued to the chassis.

Just "how much" bass is missing? If the top end and mids sound "correct", then it just might be a matter of tighter, not "less" bass. What previous power cord was used on the CDP?
The favor 3 with a lower end wattgate.I think that it is missing.
