Its a problem many of us have faced.. and I guess it just sorts out our priorities...
I would suggest, although I know there will be as many ideas as replies and many may disagree, that something like the Lack shelves, if you have room, is a good start.

AFter that I would use either a soft (perhaps air) layer... innertube if you can get away with it, or somesoft footer like a vibrapod and play around until you tune something to the cabinet.
Hey its not so bad... some people will tell you that putting the components behind doors wil help against airborne vibrations... not too sure myself but it sounds possible.
I think you want to isolate from the wooden sound that the cabinet may tend to add to everything.

Thanks Dave. At least I got wood! Will experiment with all those ideas and perhaps then consider changing to leaner sounding speakers if still necessary. Don't need everything warm and cosy.
