I found bartc's comment, a few threads down, interesting."3) shelf lining under your components: a) acrylic sheet, b) art store foamcore, c)constrained layer sandwich shelves as David suggests"
My shelfs are mdf with shot in the middle. The construction is a top and bottom of 3/4" mdf. Between these are a 1/2" thick by 1" wide border of mdf glued around the edge - creating a space between the top and bottom. I then drilled a hole in the bottom and filled the void with shot.
I have these shelf siting on 3x16 inner tubes.
To reduce the vibration of these shelfs what would be the best:
1.Dynamat on top of the shelf, leaving places for the feet to set on the mdf.
2. A sheet of Lexan or polycarbonate .100 mils applied with contact cement.
Follow Ups:
I'd fill them with finely washed playsand instead of shot, possibly stick some dynamat on the bottom surface, maybe sandwich a thin layer (0.125" maybe) of 7075 aluminum to the top surface, but I don't know what contact cement would hold aluminum very well to mdf but the stuff is out there.Or just float the component on top of what you have using roller bearings. Should be a good enough setup as it is if you decouple the component.

I am making roller ball now, but I had thought about using them inconjuction with the selfs.

Dynamat Extreme is quite effective and easy. You could buy rubber sheeting from McMasterCarr.com and constrain it with Lexan or even Masonite and compression fittings such as screws and t-nuts. The shelf is then tunable to an extent.

Interesting, making a tunable shelf.I was thinking of trying alumium, Plexiglass and mdf. All three or maybe pairs.
Also thinking of polyeuthane, contact cement or dynamat between the layers. The dynamant would be epoxied on the shiny side.

There are some nice adhesives with flex/damping qualities. Again, see McMaster Carr. Also check the link below for inexpensive PVC material.
I'd still compression sandwich rubber sheeting between two materials...
