Vishay makes a bulk foil resistor called VSH. These have a ceramic coating and sound very bad. I use the S102C/K series. They are very good.Ric Schultz

Just to be clear, the VSR series I referred to earlier includes the VSRJ, examples of which were very favorably reviewed by Martin Collums in his AE piece on the sound of resistors (Audio Electronics 4/94 p.38). So these are most likely not the same as the VSH ceramic devices mentioned above as being unsatisfactory.Different from either of these, apparently, are the CMF and RS/CW series Vishay Dale devices sourced by Allied Electronics (among others, I'm sure). Any comments on the sonics of these particular devices, pro or con?
Thanks Ric, I found the same thing. Have you tried 'naked' Vishays yet?
