I can't directly answer your question as to which is better for rectification, tube or diode. I can, however, tell you that replacing my stock diode rectifier in my Jolida 302b tube amp with HEXFREDs made a HUGE improvement in cleaning up the sound and tightening and deepening the quality of bass in my system. I hope that helps. Incidentally, the upgrade cost about $33. Hard to go wrong for the $$$.
