I've read that excellent artical and the Master Handbook of Acoustics. Now I'm looking for practical stealthy ways to achive the goals.First I should make some sweeps and see where the trouble spots are.
Then try to implement some solutions. Since the room is only part of a basement my main question is how effetive is treatment when it's on the other side of the wall. Mainly inverting pannel traps so the thin pannel is on the back side.
Helmholtz resonators can be built with the box on the backside of the wall and the port coming through the wall into the room.

Not really, because ALL rooms have problems at ALL frequencies. No matter what you measure, if you move the test mike even a few inches you'll measure something very different. The best solution for all smallish rooms is broadband absorption that works to as low a frequency as possible.
