Hello all,I am having issues with my AC line voltage. During each day it can fluctuate from 112V to 129V at different times. I live out in the country several miles away from any town. I had a low voltage problem fixed last year (102V-106V), and everything was okay for a couple of months. The power company says that the range is within tolerances.
I decided to look around for something inexpensive to stabilize or regulate the voltage. I looked at the Tripp Lite LC-1800/2400 units, but their tolerances are set to boost at 112V and lower at 128V, so that is not really a solution.
Are there any other units that can stablize to within a few volts (ie - plus or minus 2%)? Any help would be appreciated....and note that I am looking for something relatively inexpensive (under $250 or so).

Raid your surplus stores. Elgars can be had for as low as $25, and they are really the only solution that works. Electronic adjustable voltage regulators that come in different sizes. The most common one is a 10A model, but you can get a 30A one - I bought several.I love models 3000 and 6000, but something like that is nice too:

You didn't happen to buy one too many, did you? :-)I'll keep my eyes open. Problem is I can't really tell by a lot of the listings whether or not they are regenerators, or something else. I guess the safest thing to do would be to stick with the 3000/6000 series, at least I could be certain that I am in fact gettting a regenerator. I measured my AC last night at around 10:30pm and it was 132V....after being about 114V at dinner time...
What would be a suitable model that will work well with a VK-500 power amp? I am using another brand of amp that is close to the same output power of the VK-500. Based on your experience, are there any sonic compromises using these Elgars compared to plugging AC cord of VK-500 directly to the mains? Thanks.

Not my favorite but for your voltage and price range look into a Solar constant voltage transformer (Solartron)

I did look into the pro/cons of that doing a search in the archives. From what I have been able to discern it sounds like these are not recommended for audio use due to the noise factor - they hum rather loudly and I do not have the flexibility of moving it outside of the room.
