The 3M damping sheets are best used for vibration damping of the electronics chassis, but I don't think they are the same thing as the Marigo dots.

I've seen various cheap alternatives, although I would not vouch for how much of a similar effect they have, 50%-80% maybe. I use some ordinary felt dots from table leg padding on ceilings and I'm sure they would work on windows. There was a whole post on the Web (Thorsten Loesch maybe?) on where to place felt dots in a room.This post reminded me that someone also posted how to mimic the window dots thing cheaply. I'd try the felt dots first (placement matters here to the effect), then felt plus something like Dynamat on windows.
As to speaker cages, felt and Dynamat are touted to work; for speaker fronts felt is touted as well.
So there's something in the felt/Dynamat type combos that seems universally useful for experimentation. I have no idea what Maringos are actually made of, never having felt one in real life....
