Then I made tube hats...
Food tastes better, the sun came out, family members started loving me again.

  And I notice the small tube on the left has 2 wires going from its 'hat' to a black wrap around the glass, the big tube in the middle seems also to have 2 wires ... but they seem not to be attached to anything, and the big tube on the right doesn't have a 'hat'??

    The two tube hats have three wires each to stabilize them. The black wrap is inside the glass of the Tungssol 6SU7. The Mullard GZ37 had no improvement with a hat so I didn't put one on it. They reduce microphonics.

      I had heard that simply putting a cap of some stuff like "Mortite" on top (kindof like a yamulka! :-) ) also stops microphonics. Your wooden 'boaters' certainly look better, though.
