Hi guys,I am in the process of replacing the spring clip terminals in my powered woofers (I have two Celestion CSW with internal amplifier of 75W).
I would like to have your opinion on the following:1) I am thinking of using some Sonic Fontiers 5 way binding posts type 1 from the Part Connection ($15 a pair). Are these OK for this job?
2) The spring clip terminals are soldered directly to the high-pass filter board via a litlle copper plate (less than 2 inches log and about 1/4 inche wide).
I would not want to unsolder the copper plate: I am thinking of drilling a little hole in the plate and then solder the hookup cable inside the hole. What do you think?
Should I try instead to solder the hookup cable directly on the high pass filter board?3) What kind of hookup cable would you use? This hookup cable will be 10 inches long and will connect the binding post to the high pass filter board. I was thinking of using a single wire of some AudioQuest Indigo speaker cable (I do not know the section but there are 8 wires inside the jacket). Would 1 wire be thick enough for this purpose?
4) What kind of solder would you use? I am thinking of using some Wonder solder 16 awg, or some WBT 4% silver content... What do you think?
Thanks in advance....

trace the circuit, is a capacitor the next link in the circuit? If so, I'd file the lead a bit to remove oxidation, try to get the wire around the lead of the cap, tighten as securly as you can w/o breaking it, then solder.Should I try instead to solder the hookup cable directly on the high pass filter board? sorry this assumes we know the circuit layout, cant answer.

I'd rather see you use AQ type 4 - it will be much easier to work with, but they all sound different.
4) What kind of solder would you use? I am thinking of using some Wonder solder 16 awg, or some WBT 4% silver content... Both are very good, I like Wonder alot more.
Thanks in advance....
