I think I have seen EH 8417 some time ago, could any one confirm that teher is such a tube produced?I hv used EL34EH with good result, and they are cheap. The 6V6 and 6L6GC are also good. How is the new 6CA7 compare to the EL34??
I am also curious to try the 7591 for my Mc 225... since the tube is bigger, cud it be that it is capable of higher dissipation??In general I think the EH output tubes are quite good, better then their pre-amp tubes...
tks and best rgds

Some people like the EH 6CA7 more than the El34, others don't.I doubt there is any EH 8417. AFAIK there is only NOS/used GE and Sylvania, the Sylvania being much better.

Several years ago, i purchased a company that used to use 8417's as an output device in RF amplifiers that they built. Even at that point in time, 8417's were long out of production with nobody making a "drop in" substitute. As such, i sincerely doubt that there are any "real" 8417's that are currently being produced. As a side note, i agree that the Sylvania's are far superior to the GE's. The older "green label" Sylvania's are by far the highest output, but are also FAR higher in radiated emissions. Sean
