I just bought a Sherwood S3000-V. I replaced the electrolytics, and am currently listening to it. It sounds pretty good, not as good as Scott 310E, but I haven't even aligned it yet. Does anyone have any suggested updates? Thank-you.

I'm glad to see this thread; very timely as I have a couple of these little gems and was contemplating an update project on them.
I like these tuners a lot - nice and compact, great performers and usually not expensive. I like the styling - quite uncluttered and symmetrical - and the construction quality is very good.
Thanks for the tips and the nice photos - I'm inspired!
Geez do it, I am really surprised about this tuner. In a very positive way.
Hi Fred,
I've done a couple, make sure you check/replace C73 in the detector. I seldom see a good one there.
Here's a couple of pics
Thank-you for the C73 suggestion. I didn't even see it, for obvious reasons. And you are correct, it was bad. And I understand why you put some high end components, what a pleasant surprise. Thanks-again for the tip.
Hoosier, I grew up in northern Indiana. What part of Indiana are you?
HI Fred,
Southern Indiana on the Ohio halfway between Louisville & Cincinnati. What are you feeding the Sherwood into, if its a typical 50K load you may want to increase the size of the output caps, it will help the bass.
HA
Thank-you, timely, I have been wondering what I can do to increase the bass. I will try it today.
Thank-you, I appreciate it. I can see a lot of what you have done. I'm surprised at how well this simple tuner sounds. I'm going to follow your fine example.
I recall reviews of this tuner. It was one of the most highly regarded tuners of its era.
This is up there for the best $100 I have ever spent.
