I'm enjoying listening to 88.1fm KJAZ from LA on my McIntosh MR80.

Brand new Kenwood KT727 one of the best in my book. Had so many!
Modded Kenwood KT-8300...can't ask for much more...with Stellar Labs 4 element...straight into headphone amp and HD 650's...all good enough that I'm not feeling a need to keep looking for improvements.
Listening to late night jazz from KUVO-Denver from 7100ft near Rocky Mountain National Park on my Mac MR-74. Simple zip cord dipole. Pulls in stations very well.
yamaha tx-900 and tx-1000
And station 88.3 FM. Been enjoying all day long!
No matter the station.
With the antenna? we are hearing its ability / inability to discriminate and to drive the 'tuna' into full limiting and minimal multipath on any given signal.

Do you feel this is the case even with nearby stations and favorable topography? I get very strong signals and minimal multipath on the stations I listen to; so what I am missing out by not using a strong attic or rooftop antenna?
of the performance of the tuner. With my Roof top Antenna I can get way more stations including from LA on certain days with my Dynaco MF3, Fisher KM-60, and Fisher FM 2200b.With the Mac MR80 I can get way more than what I could with my Magnum Dynalab antenna and get LA all the time except for really bad weather days but still come in but barely.
I need to get that Rhombic back up!

I listen with a Sony XDR F1HD and it sounds wonderful. I am impressed that such a small (and fairly inexpensive) unit is so sensitive and quiet, with wonderful imaging. I have heard the mods exist for this tuner; to my ears, it works well stock.
I have one of these and it's just wonderful. The imaging is impressive. Quiet, sensitive, selective.
I just disconnected my Audiolab 8000 T tuner and replaced it with my Pioneer Elite F 91 tuner.
I have always heard about the Audiolab 8000T and how good it was.
I check ebay for prices every once in a while and I notice that the Audiolab 8000T goes for about $400 and change. That price seems very reasonable and my thought is that many people just don't have the selection of FM stations available to make it worth while owning a good tuner.
I tried buying some second-system tuners and I got rid of them all. None of them compared.
The main characteristic of the 8000T is the frequency extension combined with the holographic soundstage, but mostly the latter.

They are both great tuners, but I would have to give the edge to the Audiolab in terms of soundstaging. I also like the silky smooth tuning knob.Reminds me of some of my old Marantz equipment. But I think my Pioneer pulls in weaker stations better.
Told two cheap but good ideas today.
I have a pair of MR-74s
the first is in the house system - Mitsubishi DA-P20 pre-amp, some Parasound amps and a collection of speakers in different rooms-
second - in the main system -
Mostly listening to the left end of the dial -

as you and I upgraded all the caps to Elna Cerafines and Silmic II's. What was a nice preamp is now an awesome preamp.
lovely sound through Musical Fidelity A1 2008 integrated to Reference 3A DeCapo I speakers
There must be something wrong with me for not having something wrong.
correction: MR-77 not 78. I wasn't looking when I typed...

Nems Clarke 1509A. I modified it a little, using the video out, bypassing it's own little SE power amp and I use a DIY SE 2A3 with it through an old 604C in a 612 cab. It makes a REL Precedent or a 10B look simple inside. Tax payers paid $1800 for these in 1961. I plan on making a new DIY PP amp for it, now that I'm more impressed with that topology.

This tuner just keeps impressing me more and more. Listening to 101.5 KGB FM Classic Rock.
McIntosh MX130 HT preamp. Station is KUAT in Tucson, Arizona. It is an NPR station that provides some really good classical music. Sound quality is top notch.
Listening to 102.5 fm from Tijuana. Plays fusion, jazz, funk and other music. Uncompressed FM. The PEC mod and output cap upgrade raise this tuner's sound to a whole other level. Very very Nice! I still need to do the power supply PCB mod, I can only imagine what the FM3 will sound like after that!

that I could tune to listened to my favotites music. FM stations such as CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corp) for jazz, folk, classical and new music, CKUA for eclectic, jazz, folk just to name a few and XL 103 for classic rocks.
If a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing well

A Philips AH-673 fully recapped and aligned tuned to WFPK 91.9 Louisville KY
The Sounds of New Orleans on a Pioneer TX-9500II.
