Thanks for the reply. I don't envy you your tuner shoot-out. I made the mistake of shipping my tuner for a repair job that will more than likely cost more than an ebay purchase of another tuner, including the model I already shipped.

It's a tough job but someone's got to do it :-). The 2300 in the photo is already gone; although it has the Fet/Microcircuit configuration, I found that I preferred the 3300. I also have an SEL-300 with a display issue I hope to get fixed up eventually. No Sherwood will leave the collection without a fair trial :-).
Denon TU-800L
Kenwood L-1000T
Yamaha T-2
Sony XDR-F1HD
Yamaha T-85 (in the spare room)
Kenwood KT-1100SD (in the spare room)
Sony ST-SA5ES (with a friend as it needs looking at)
So that's 7.
Hey Nick, what's your best dxer? the 1100SD? Didn't you have a KT-6040 at one point?
Hi dxho. The KT-1100SD is modified with 150 and 110 kHz filters in the narrow/super narrow positions so that may have a very slight edge. Maybe not though, as the L-1000T has 8 filters against the 1100SD's 5. They are comparable I would say. The L-1000T sounds better to my ears.
I've never had a KT-6040 but I expect it would have similar performance to the L-1000T for DXing.
Regards,
Nick
Thanks! Still gathering information about dx tuners, even though I have some nice ones.
