Even though I live by a less is more philosophy, I'm thinking about purchasing a second tuner, possibly a Sansui to add to my Yamaha.
Anybody here own more than one? If so, please list them.

Mac MR-67 got to send it to the guy in eTN for overhaul
MAc MR-74 sitting in for the MR 67
HK 9600 in the cabin rig- will be replaced by the MR 74 eventually
As I posted below, my main tuner is a rebuilt simulcast rcvr with the power amps off.It has a valve front-end, a Foster Seeley detector, and an SS MPX kit by "Studio 12" from the UK, which feeds a TT valve in Cfollower mode. It's in the main system, and is now driven real hard by the new antenna for which see my recent post.
I don't listen all that critically elsewhere in the house. But on both the stations I bother with it, and into all the other FM stages in use, we are in full limiting. Very quiet.
I do own one tuner, an old analogue dial Rotel. Out of use waiting to go to my son.
The rest are receivers. We have three FM wall plates in the house.
Given the parlous state of FM in the USA - so often commented on this forum - I am a teeny bit puzzled by the obsession with tuners alone - evidenced by this post - when there's almost no-one else than me posting here about antennas?
:-)
Here's my definition of a good antenna. It drives all your FM stages, on all your desired stations, into full limiting with a signal that has low multipath on it, from each desired station.
How would you know?

I own few tuners:
McIntosh MR-65B
McIntosh MR-67
McIntosh MR-74
NAD 4020A (inherited from my late father)
Currently I am listening to the MR-67, aligned and repaired by Terry Dewick...
a 1981 Accuphase T-101. At one time I also had a T-100 and a T-1000 and briefly a Yamaha T-2 which I bought for the ex-wife when we divorced. I'd have a T-1100 if I could find the extra bones, but the new wife isn't too keen on that...
Harman Kardon Citation 14
McIntosh MR 77
Scott 312 {nuvistor version}
Harman Kardon T-403
Kenwood KT-7500
The Mind has No Firewall~ U.S. Army War College.
I think it's currently about five - two Kenwoods, a Dynaco, a Realistic, and I think there's another one in the garage somewhere.
Then there's the receivers....
The good news is my Rotel RHT-10 is probably my last tuner ever for classical music. However my other tuners sound better for headphone listening on my local jazz station. I am trying to start the winnowing process to get down to just two but it will take a long time. I went on an acquisition binge when I was single. My prettiest tuner is unquestionably my Scott 4312. I need to do a shootout to see whether it is really better than my 312C. Then there are two tube McIntoshes and four Sherwoods, a Sanyo, an Eico and a Knight. I've got my work cut out for me! I used to spend time doing shootouts and posting them online but it's hard to make the time now. Oh, I forgot the Citation III-x and the Nakamichi 430. My Hitachi FT-007 isn't my best-sounding tuner but has the best signal level indicator.

One of my Sherwoods is a mono 3000 fitted with a Bob Fitzgerald MPX decoder. On my local jazz station with headphones, I prefer my pure-tube tuners. My local classical station, KBAQ, has terrible noise on many tuners despite a strong signal. I suspect IBOC (HD Radio) is to blame. The Fitzgerald MPX decoder handles KBAQ well with nice quiet reception.
That's about the only thing you can do, if the station is using IBOC.

all the best,

Thanks for the reply. I don't envy you your tuner shoot-out. I made the mistake of shipping my tuner for a repair job that will more than likely cost more than an ebay purchase of another tuner, including the model I already shipped.
It's a tough job but someone's got to do it :-). The 2300 in the photo is already gone; although it has the Fet/Microcircuit configuration, I found that I preferred the 3300. I also have an SEL-300 with a display issue I hope to get fixed up eventually. No Sherwood will leave the collection without a fair trial :-).
Denon TU-800L
Kenwood L-1000T
Yamaha T-2
Sony XDR-F1HD
Yamaha T-85 (in the spare room)
Kenwood KT-1100SD (in the spare room)
Sony ST-SA5ES (with a friend as it needs looking at)
So that's 7.
Hey Nick, what's your best dxer? the 1100SD? Didn't you have a KT-6040 at one point?
Hi dxho. The KT-1100SD is modified with 150 and 110 kHz filters in the narrow/super narrow positions so that may have a very slight edge. Maybe not though, as the L-1000T has 8 filters against the 1100SD's 5. They are comparable I would say. The L-1000T sounds better to my ears.
I've never had a KT-6040 but I expect it would have similar performance to the L-1000T for DXing.
Regards,
Nick
Thanks! Still gathering information about dx tuners, even though I have some nice ones.

I suppose about 12 several are the same model like the Fisher 90X I bought two. Its where I started with my audio never thought it would grow but with the tube amps that I always have enjoyed well you know how it goes.
Forgot the Luxman 5T50
Three tuners left:
Onkyo T-4711
Onkyo T-9090 II

Fisher 80

I also have an old Pilot Tuner Pre-amp...
Happy Listening
Nice to see some action here on RR.
I love tuners and receivers. Started a small collection about 10 yrs ago. Have about a dozen tuners (multiples of some).
Marantz 10b, 20, 20b, 115b, 120b, 125, 150 and 2120.
SAE Mark VI
Sansui 9900
Kenwood 917
All work as should and are a joy to listen to.
Just the one: A McIntosh MR77. I'll take it to my grave w/me.
Wow! When and how do you decide which one to listen to? Also, do you have multiples of other components?
When...whenever the spirit moves me.
How...I have a relatively large house and have a system in each corner. The tuners are divided up amongst them. I just pick the one I want to listen to but try to even the play time out to keep the caps happy.
Multiples...the only duplicates of anything are the 10b and 20b tuners.
I have a lot of radios and five home made antennas for HF radio but I am so rural and down at the base of a narrow valley only 400ft wide that FM here is futile even with a roof antenna. Even on top of the mountain with easily 40 stations only one or two is listenable content-wise for my odd tastes. My next house will be atop a mountain for radio and free TV, no more cable or sat for me.

...:
Sansui TU-517 (daily driver; bought for listening to Pipe dreams on NPR and then hardly used)
Luxman T-240(?)
Kenwood KT-5300
Kenwood KT-413 (or similar with auto search)
Kenwood KT-2001A (or similar low-end unit)
There may also be another one or two un-remembered ones in the pile.
Note that all of my stuff is packed away (except for my Onkyo TX-4500mk2 receiver) as I am in the middle of a move. I am relying on memory and Google images to fill out the model number listing.

Just three
Mac MR-74
HK RU-9600
Mac MR-67
the 74 is holding a spot for the MR67 while it gets rebuilt then the 74 takes over the KH
Marantz 10b
Sony XR1-FD
Sansui TU-717

I like the look of that Phillips.
Very impressive reception capability as I'm able to listen to my favorite FM stations at 300km. away using just the powered Rabbit ear antennae located in the basement of my house.

(Proverb)
Impressive! I also have a basement system using a T-wire as an antenna. Our area's only classical station pumps out 50,000 watts. Still, my signal strength meter on the Yamaha T-1 doesn't move beyond the halfway point.
First off the area where I live is situated on the higher elevation at 3400 ft. ASL. And my favorite station has 16 FM transmitters ranging in effective radiated power from 15 watts to 100,000 watts. As every one knows, the higher the power the further away a usable signal can be received. As a rule the high-power sites can be received with most radios at a distance of approximately 100km or farther. However, this still depends on weather, terrain and the quality of the tuner.
This is one of the reasons why I'm able to use just the powered rabbit ear antennae in my basement.

And I'm probably no more than 200 feet above sea level, so I can see where you'd get better reception.
Sony XR1-FD
Onkyo 9090II(needs work)
Kenwood 5020
Dynaco FM3(modified with front end like a Marantz 10 and all the front end diodes but one converted to tube diodes)
I own two:
Sony XDR-F1HD
Luxman T-117
I also have a couple of old Bose radios laying around.
How many tuners have I owned? 10-20
Two McIntosh MR77's, one MR74.

Your profile lists writing novels. Have you incorporated your hi-fi hobby into any of them? I've written a couple myself and did include a scene or two using audio equipment as a backdrop.
The protagonist of the last two unpublished part-of-a-mystery-series manuscripts is a vinylphile. That's strictly backstory, though the retrieval of a CD triggers the second novel's climax. What I'm considering for the opening line in the next is the kind of statement that excites all sorts of passions here on the Asylum. It may even wind up constituting the core of the plot's premise, but that's still in the kicking-the-concept-around stage.

Let me know when it's published.
In no particular order:
Onkyo T-4210
Two (2) Yamaha T-80
Two (2) (or maybe it's three) Dynaco FM-3
McIntosh MR-78
Sony XDR-F1HD
Realistic TM-102
Marantz 105
I've never understood why guys recommend using a CD player to break in interconnects, when good tuners are so inexpensive. Why shorten the life of a laser and transport, when a tuner works just as well? Then you have the tuner to play with, even when there's not much to listen to in your area.
