THIS is the question,some say yes and others no?
They were put there for a reason,why are most of the equipment I see have no shields?
What are the advantages/dis advantages?

If the circuit has a shielded socket in it, use a shield. If not, don't .

The traditional tube shields from the '50s& '60s were pretty tight on the tube - so they do not help with convection cooling-
They may help with 'shielding' though I have not heard an advantage -
Listen both ways and decide -
Some of the H.H. Scott shields had a spring to keep the tube securely mounted - could be good...
