My reception has been much improved. Hooked up the antenna again yesterday and had a BUNCH of listening sessions.
Good radio stations are so necessary and so good when you find them.
My antenna wire doesn't go all over the house, but brought my tuner and a headphone amplifier over to where the antenna wire was and just listened to a bunch of good programming.
When the artist is IN the studio, it is just FANTASTIC.

Glad that you have re-found your old friend-
We have some excellent FM in Northern CA-

Try it between 6 am and 12 midnight Australian time. We are 16 to 19 hours ahead of you. When's that?If you have Windoze just set up an additional clock for the east coast of Australia.
You do have to LIKE classical music a lot, but we find it intelligent, and despite: station promos, promoting of concerts, and their own recordings, - there are no other ads.
The LISTEN LIVE button is the one to click. The transmitted FM sound quality - via satellite, nationally - is a good bit better than this internet feed.

Glad you posted about ABC. Lots to explore there. ABC Jazz sounds far better than the posted 128k stream and I'll check in on a regular basis.
I listen to KUSC streaming at 128 and as sickening as it seems to me as an old geezer, I have to admit it is pretty good. Still a bit dry any sterile but good enough that for the first time I have a fm radio station for listening on my tablet. The tablet is well respected for its audio, if nothing else and the headphone output that I use it as a feed through the aux input into my living room stereo.
If there are enough stations streaming at this rate, I can see where fm could be eliminated as a source in the future.

I am a big FM stereo fan. I had 38 FM tuners and settled on a Fisher KW-60 with upgrades including rolling in the best tubes. The tuner is re-aligned for top performance. I get over 30dB stereo separation. With this Fisher tuner the right FM station can approach CD like quality.
do you need a scope.

I use a Sencore SG-165 meter with the built in stereo signal generator.
