Congrats on your retirement and rediscovering FM.
I've always enjoyed FM and have a small collection of vintage tuners and receivers. Even though I'm lucky to have several good FM stations nearby, I get the most enjoyment using a FM Transmitter hooked up thru my computer and broadcasting to one of my tuners.
The first transmitter I used was a CCrane (around $70) and it got the job done. If you're interested in doing anything like that I can go into more details. Enjoy.

Hi onemug, can you please provide more explanation regarding your setup (i.e. FM Transmitter -> laptop -> tuner...)?
but before we waste any time on what might be a dead end, I glanced at your system and did not see that you had an FM source. Do you have the means to receive an FM broadcast, like a tuner or a receiver with FM in it?
See the link...

I see that he has a 717. Nice tuner. I haven't heard an FM-3 but I'd bet it's pretty nice.
