Terry DeWick bought one for his R390 and this video I found shows it to work rather well.I did modify the product detector 26 years ago in one of them and it works ok,but now I should probably put it back to original or put the new board in my other R390A which isn't as nice as the one I modded. It was 32 steps and I found the sheet but maybe I can try it in the unmodded one and compare it..I am using a 70v transformer as all these military boat anchors are 600ohm out.

How wide is the audio bandwidth?Do you have to add that NRSCA post reception Eq so that it doesn't sound shrill? All AM BCB statiosn use the NRSCA pre-boost. The inverse shape is needed to compensate.
Or are Mr Rippell's mods sufficient.
We have a few very good wide-band audio transmissions on the AM BCB, and I've put a fair effort into getting good sound from my old valve RF stages 'tunah'. Search here.

The audio amp itself will go out to 10k I would guess even tho you only need 3k for vocals.I use the receiver for general coverage and when I'm on 3.880 75M AM phone.

real radios glow in the dark...
I don't have as many Boatanchors as tube amps but I have the critical ones and I want to get an Hallicrafters SX-88 and I will be happy.
