Given the astronomical prices for Tung-Sol 6550’s these days, I was wondering if any of you recall what one (or a matched pair) of these cost back when they were still being manufactured.

Follow Ups:
I have a 1966 advertisement which lists a matched quad (four boxed tubes taped together) Gold Lion KT-66, for (gulp!!!) $25.00.

That is still over $125 in todays money. They were selling the Macintosh amps for $200 to $300 back then too.

Chris,Try to find a factory sealed quad any kind of tube Gold Lion. Very difficult. I think the KT-66 and KT-77 are one of the more difficult. Bet, you if could they'd cost 10 times the $150. Just a WAG, since I haven't seen an NOS set in awhile.
I have two quads of N709 which sound most Heavenly, in Vox guitar amps. Don't ask me why. The N709 is a Philips factory made and designed EL84---but, they just seem to sound richer, louder, and take a bit more abuse than their Amperex BB and Mullard cousins.
I don't think you'll find too many sealed quads of this tube. Just pairs, if you are lucky. And THEY ARE EXPENSIVE.

I thought I saved it, but did not. I'll post it if I can find the thing.
