As Charlotte once said to the cute pig, Wilbur, "Salutations!"and now the serious stuff: Please, would a builder of ET's Foreplay who has successfully managed the installation of the "shunt pot mod" offer a bit of instruction (or a lead to where the instructions may be found) on how the carbon strips of the stock pots are by-passed? Also a short list of parts needed would be most helpful. I don't know where else to get this information...
cheers!

The current issue of VALVE tells all.
Thus...Can the 47 K ohm resistors from the center pins of the selector switch be connected to the central terminal on the volume pot, since those are also connected to the grid? Or must the resistor attach directly from the switch to tube pin number 2? Sheesh I'm tired -- middle school kids can really take it out of you (me!). Either way, the desired connection is achieved, correct?
Thanks for you help, and I've got to subscribe to VALVE! I'm so totally weary and bored with the -- let me say it -- bullshit in stereophile!
I would bet that hooking the 47K Ohm directly to the tube is more beneficial. That way the current path of the music is through one resistor and minimal solder connections/wire. This would be the minimalist approach. Best mod to come around in a while.
Hi there Steven, and thanks for the response to my posting! Just curious, here: Have you built the Forplay, or have you done the shunted volume pot tweak on some other unit? Hey: the existing connection that goes from the pot's center terminal also goes to the grid -- this must remain connected, you think?
You can't subscribe to VALVE. No subscriptions. Just download it. When you download it, you become a club member, too.Welcome!
...a member! I wondered if that was the case, Paul -- and thanks for that information.
