They were last made in the early 1990s and have been in VERY short supply for a number of years now, so there's been even fewer sales.
I am fortunate enough to have about 40-50 NOS Ei KT-90 type I and type II in my personal stash. i just sold a NOS "near matched" quad of type IIs a few weeks ago to a long time customer, and they weren't cheap! If you want more info drop me a note.
Also - if those tubes have been sitting unused for a long time then they may be a bit gassy. The tubes I sold were run in by me for about 8-10 hours at 465 volts on the plate and screen with a cathode current of 80-85 ma. After that "re-burn in" they were ready to use. BTW - that tendency to be gassy is not unique to the Ei KT-90s. It can occur in almost any tube under the same circumstances.
They are (IMHO) simply outstanding tubes - be SURE you want to let them go!
Follow Ups:
Thanks for the excellent info Jim. I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I have thought about selling them for many years because I don't have an amp that can use them. I am 71 and haven't done any changes in my system for nearly 20 years and am still happy with it. So they might as well be enjoyed by someone. I have read they are excellent tubes.
I know the feeling! I'll be 74 on my next birthday, and the march of time has put enough of a damper on my activities that I've finally realized that many of the projects I had hoped to work on won't ever be even attempted. That's why I am exiting the tube sales part of my business and selling off my remaining tube stock. But I still listen to music on occasion, and putting the Citation II amp and the KT90 Ei together is definitely a marriage made in heaven. So I'm glad to have the '90s I have on hand.
They are GREAT tubes!!
Thank you Jim. I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season. You have been very helpful!
