In Reply to: RE: GE 12AT7/ECC81 Great Britain maybe Mullard? posted by B. Scarpia on April 18, 2021 at 09:24:34
I thought the factory code at the bottom was in a grey etching, so it's questionable?

I thought perhaps a GE Tube marked "Great Britain" might have been made in the Mullard factory as I didn't know if GE had it's own over there.

apparently there are so many fake labeled tubes that it's hard to tell now. Even factory labeled tubes of the same type can be from different factories because of high demand and low production #'s. I have some Westinghouse 12ax7's with the 5 star label and they are actually Tungsram.
Some were low production #'s and discontinued early, like Sylvania 12sn7's. They would be extremely hard to fake though with the chromed glass.
Where oh where is that mythical straight wire with gain...cheers
