I have read that unless 6SN7* is use for vertical deflection on TV applications, then a 6SN7GT (VT-231 ) tube can be substituted for a 6SN7GTA or GTB in audio applications and should not create any problems. So you might want to try VT-231's.
I second your recco. Given ka7niq's predilection for the RCA, I would think an RCA VT231 might really scratch his itch.
