I have sold a number of KT-150s (not large numbers, but a decent amount) and I have had near zero troubles with the tubes I sent out. Interestingly almost all have been sent overseas (Asia) so I was very careful to do the best matching/testing I could do since a tube with issues is a real problem/hassle if the purchaser is located in the far east. All the power tubes I sell run in for at least 24 hours and in some cases longer. They are run at real tube voltages as well, not "tube tester" voltages
The physically larger the tube internals are the more there is to outgas in the tube. So a thorough burn in is more important with the physically larger tubes in my experience since as the grid current (gas) drops the tube is more stable and consistent. All tubes (and other electronic parts as well) drift some over time - especially when they are brand new; but you CAN minimize it with some care. The same is true about tube failures, especially "infant mortality" failures like appears to have occurred in your ARC gear. Nothing any seller can do will 100% eliminate early failures.
Regarding the customer comment - I also think Upscale Audio/Kevin is a good seller and can provide their customers with fine tubes. I would suggest though (no disrespect intended) that they are not the only source for quality tubes - nor the only vendor that burns in the tubes properly before sale. That's my opinion anyway.
Edited to fix typo...

Im one of Jim McShane's customer from S.E Asia who ordered 36 KT 150's , 24 KT120's , 24 tungsol 6550's , 24 Golden Lion KT88's , 6 pieces of Sovtek 6550 . These tubes were used on my friend's ARC REF 750 , REF 250 and VTL Siegfried amp. Because of Jim's meticulous way of burning in and matching of these tubes so far so good .We have not experienced any infant mortality or fireworks w/ regards to tubes that Jim supplied . I have not experienced a DOA tube from Jim . I wont have any qualms in ordering KT120's when its time to retube my REF 610's . I think his matching and burning in procedure is at par w/ ARC .Its been a year since we got these tubes from Jim . I have not ordered tubes from Upscale Audio .
Thanks for your great input Jim. I will buy tubes from you too. Really! Between my Manley Steelhead, AMR DP777 tubed DAC, ARC Ref 6 and Arc Ref 150se, I run on tubes.
