... wondering how they compare with Dutch or German CCas.
Thanks

Find a Telefunken e188cc. Not cheap, but not as much as a true CCA tube.
Per Brent Jessee (AudioTube.com) CCA's were made mostly in Germany and some in Holland and most likely none in the USA. He also mentioned CCA's were "made specifically for the German government and military, all that I have seen carry a German brand label, even those made in Holland." Assuming Brent is correct, wouldn't all real CCA's have Philip's etched codes, which would serve to verify tube type and manufacture location?Given Brent's description it is likely any Sylvania labeled CCA that indicates it is USA made likely is not a real CCA unless it has etched codes indicating such tubes were made in Germany/Holland. That unlikely circumstance would indicate Sylvania OEM'ed but did not make the tube.
Per National tubes branded CCA, over time such tubes might have been made by different manufacturers vs. solely coming from one source. Still it would seem whether or not proper etched codes are there or not would verify whether such tubes are real CCA's or not.
If the tubes you are interested in are not real CCA's then they likely will perform/sound quite different from real CCA's.

Looking for etched codes on a "Sylvania made CCA" makes no sense. It would be like looking for a V8 in a stock VW Beetle with Camaro tags. The whole thing is bogus.
Agreed, 100% true. And your V8/VW Beetle is good analogy. Reminds me of the meek appearing though quite slick Sunbeam Tiger that had Ford V8s under their hoods. What I endeavored to indicate related to the (unlikely) possibility that Sylvania OEM'ed real CCA's. And if so, as was the practice, Sylvania would have labeled these tubes with "Sylvania" & "Made in USA." Such tubes, if existed, would most likely have Philips etched codes. And come to think of it would be akin to the Sunbeam Tiger of OEM'ed tubes.

The seller who reports to be in the pro audio business says there are no date codes.
They are great tubes but i always liked the Amperex and other European 6dj8 types in my preamp more than USA made. So, it is possible that the CCA tube is a Sylvania 6922 or 7308.
My tubed cd player seems to thrive on Amperex E188ccs and Siemens CCas and A phi Os.
And since National made no tubes at all and was notorious for labeling similar tubes as equivalent to special quality tubes who knows what is the true source of your "CCA".
The seller seems like a good guy and I would like to support him though I'm reticent to, with this information.
I'll pile on here. I have gotten some pretty bad tubes branded as National...( insert wondertube type here.) Mostly Russian or East German but not the better stuff.
Yes, I'm convinced to back away.
