Wow that is a great idea. The signal level is pretty low, maybe 50mv I am guessing. The xfmr would have to be carefully selected for low noise and optimum transfer characteristics and be unity gain. How hard can that be? Or can I just enjoy it listening to one side without the correction? Quality is excellent but could it be even better is the question?

Talk to the guys at Jensen Transformer, tell them exactly what you're doing and see if they has transformers for you.

Kevin Carter @ K&K Audio sold a kit with Lundahl transformers for a "passive" I/V stage for a balanced current output DAC chip like the PCM1794. You could post a question over on the K&K forum.
