In Reply to: RE: How do you organize your tubes? posted by Mechans on November 12, 2016 at 16:54:12
I just rubber band a few together. But basically they are in one box so I know exactly where they are.
Unfortunately I don't have enough tubes to worry about that problem.
Follow Ups:
I have mine in the flat under the bed boxes. Those boxes contain the tubes which have been roughly organized by type. I have some boxes which have not been organized at all. I liked the DeWalt boxes but would need a few of them, probably exceeding one stack.
I see a lot of you have spread sheets. The tube info I keep is frequently on the box, with deeply analytic statements like "Good One", not kidding. I do keep test info on them if I have tested them at one point. I have time to do a better job so I think I will attempt keeping a spreadsheet. Only if I can get one or two of my testers working in a reliable manor.
If I had a lot of tubes I would do the spreadsheet. Or clear plastic shoe boxes to group them together.
Your idea IS the best. A shallow under the bed box. With a deep box you start to loose sight of what you have.
The spreadsheet I use has columns for:
(long ago an Inmate modded for me with sorting abilities at the column tops)
- Inventory number (assigned per tube)
- Tube Type
- AKA (also known as) VT- / JAN / CHS etc.
- Tube label
- Actual tube manufacturer
- Tests 1, 2 or more
- Min/AN (minimum or average new)
- Tester used
- Getter style
- Getter location
- Notes such as grpltwtlbltophalonos
- Value <5% market value for calculations (Don't count eggs until they're hatched)
- Origination and or date (sparsely populated)
- Location in vault
