I compared this Bugle Boy marked 12 volt tube to 5 Amperex Orange Globe 12AU7's I have and the internals appear identical. I'd still like to know if there is some other tell tale sign confirming it is a 12AU7.
Follow Ups:
Amperex made many 12AU7s including one that I have ben collecting for years the 7316.
The 7316 variant which as best I can tell is always a Heerlen Holland tube with the right triangle in the code. I also usually find "Ct#" on the top line of the code I put the # symbol for a number . So you might see the top line will be Ct5. The 2nd or bottom line starts with the right triangle.
Amperex made 12AX7s for sure but I don't recall if they also made the 12AT7 or ECC81.
I really like the 12AU7s they made, not just the 7316s.
You may be able to find your BB tube in the photo library that Tube Monger maintains.
Thanks, Mechans!
I only see 1 line of etched code (with the Heerlen triangle)and the other markings are so faint that even with high magnification, I can see no other lines of code.
I did a search and saw where 1 inmate thought the 12AT/12AX versions had shorter plates than the 12AU7. Don't know if that is true.
