Hi,
I just got a 13 wpc tube integrated that takes 4 el84 tubes and two 12ax7's. Started it up and the 4th socket makes the tube plate get bright red and very hot. The other three are fine. I did switch the tubes through and in every instance the same thing and only on the 4th socket.
Any idea what might be causing this? Spoke to the distributer and all was fine when he tested it before shipping. Packed well and no real box damage.
Thanks in advance.

Art,
You have mail.
A leaking coupling capacitor is a prime suspect. Also, a failed bias trim pot. in a "fixed" bias setup will cause "red plating".
Photos and a schematic will assist the "inmates" in getting the problem fixed.
