Just purchased a Dared 130 tube amp for my LPs. I have a Riga turntable and need a pre-amp. Should I buy a tube pre-amp or does this not matter?
Thanks

Quite a few on the secondhand market...
A commercial tubed phono preamp will set you back a considerable amount of money. Costs can be contained, if you DIY.
Highly acceptable results can be obtained from Jim Hagerman's Bugle 2, which is opamp based, at a comparatively low cost. Unlike at lot of SS units, the Bugle2 uses passive RIAA EQ and it dodges a lot of sonic flaws in the process. A Bugle2 can be configured to work with just about any available cartridge.

The Bugle 2 is $199 plus shipping, factory assembled. It can be ordered with 40-60 dB gain and just about at resistive loading you specify. The standard build for moving magnet and high output moving coil cartridges is 40 dB gain and 47kOhm load.If you must have tubes, there are two good choices, the budget Yaqin MS-22/23B at just under $200 (shipping will be a bit high), or far better sonically, the Hagerman Cornet 3 at $489.
Note: Although both the Bugle 2 and Cornet 3 are available in kit form, Jim does not recommend inexperienced kit builders try either one. And the Hagerman built Cornet 3 is only $100 more than the kit price. You only save $50 by buying the Bugle 2 kit.

What cart? price range? kind of music? planning trying out different cartridges?
However, since you chose a tube amp especially for your lps, I would have thought you had already answered the basic question for yourself already.
