This is an old heathkit oscilloscope. I'm keeping it because it has sentimental value. The large can cap went and started glowing the rectifier tube.
Question: If I repair the can cap - can I still use the rectifier tube? Or is that blow once it glows?
I plan on replacing all the electrolytics and power resistors one day in the future - after I move next year.

Follow Ups:
The winding in the transformer may have as little as 50ma current or better stated fragile at that current. I would buy a new tube vs risking the power transformer.
I'm going to recap it and buy new tubes. I did find them and they are around $10 or less.
The tranny seems to have the schematic voltage. So it looks ok.
thanks

A short applied upon the rectifier tube does not usually ruin the tube.
without the danger of blowing out the replaced caps?
This is a small rectifier tube and looks a tad difficult to find and replace.
I don't have the number for it available at this moment. But I'll google it later.

The tube will not ruin new caps, but if the tube is shorted it will damage the power transformer in perhaps 30 seconds if a line fuse is not in place.
I would really need to view the schematic and the tube to make a more accurate statement than the generalization above.
I would power up watching the rectifier tube and shut off immediately with any signs of arcing or other events. It would be best to use a dim bulb tester and a volt meter on the B+.
I'm pretty sure this is the one. I'm at work but it sure looks like it.
I also pretty sure it's the 6x4 tube I'm looking at that glows.
