Yes, absolutely, in terms of noise/micophonics guarantee...as well as a tight match in gain and plate current. Thank you.
Can you say more about "the why" or the difference in the vintage Siemens with date code etched on the outside bottom vs the inside metal tag, please?

Agreed.

Why? There are really not that many circuit designs that demand/call for matched tubes. So unless you have gear that requires matched tubes, you are driving up your costs and limiting your selections unnecessarily.
Just like in a car - if it doesn't need higher octane fuel, putting Premium in it won't make it run any better - it'll just cost more.
Jim,
My apologies... when I first read your response to my reply to JNS... I thought you had mistaken the "Why" I had asked JNS regarding the difference between the Siemens with the codes etched on the outside of the tube versus the ones with the metal tags inside the tube. :)
Regarding tube matching. Personally, I never believed given that you are dealing with two tubes of the same type that tight matching of the gain and plate current between the two was critical.... but I was under the assumption that it was preferred particularly in designs where you can't manually bias the tubes.
But, now that is has gained my interest, I will check it out with Fred Volz who designed both my amp and preamp... as well as with Thorsten who designed my DAP. I appreciate your advice I don't need to be spending money where it is not necessary especially when it comes to vintage 6922s.
Hi, Jim...
I totally get what you are saying... My question to JNS was:
why the preference for vintage Siemens with the date code etched on the outside bottom vs the inside metal tag?
And, I will check with the manufactures of the DAP just how closely, if at all they need to be matched as output tubes. However, when it comes to the vintage 6922s, it doesn't seem to matter whether you are buying single or matched in terms of price...
