Hello, can anyone tell me if a Amperex PQ Holland 6DJ8 tube had a clear plastic like band around it with the tube name.model and other information on it. I felt it was either painted or silk screened on. I just purchased three "as advertised Amperex Holand tubes" that have this plastic band around them and I am thinking they aren't the real thing. Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks

Thank you again---that is what I wanted to hear and yes I now know what delta symbol is!
There is often an acid etched Philips code somewhere near the bottom of the envelope. The code tables are readily available online, and should readily reveal the production factory.
I've got a huge stash of Mullard branded 6922s that are in reality Holland Amperexes, courtesy of the etched codes. Gorgeous sounding tubes sans the bugle.
I will look the codes up--this will be helpful. It looks like the code on the tubes I have is "42L3"
Thanks for your help.
You could missread the symbol for Philps Heerlen as the 4 in the beginning????
I never seen anything like you describe.Very curious, pics?
Hello, Old Man river and thanks for the reply. The more I examine these tubes the more it appears to be some type of residue from scotch tape or something. I couldn't send you pictures since I am only a visitor to the site and can't access your email Thanks
Sorry to butt in, but (pun, yuck!) I'm kinda curious, too. Can you UPLOAD IMAGE (see link at bottom of message box)?
Thanks!
Here are a few pictures---the date code is 42L3---thanks
The date code is not a proper Philips code:
However the tube is either one of these (2)
Amperex 1970+ A-Frame 6DJ8
Yugoslavian 6DJ8
Delta 2L3 is the code for Heerlen Holland.

I would like to thank everyone for all the feedback--it's a good learning experience.
I believe the comment about the 4 --not being a 4 but a Phillips symbol is correct which would make the number 2L3. Again thanks for all the helpful information.
