Wow! If I've ever seen a more "famous last words" statement... Does anyone know the Russian equivalent designation?
Thanks!

"What did the Romans ever do for us?"
Question is: Did the avionics really carry ALL "-EV" valves?
8^)
As far impervious to overload I think they meant when used in an amp designed for a standard 6550/KT88. As far as a Russian equivalent I think this is a new design....if it needs to be put in a family group it seems like a larger EL156.
I have few questions about this tube....like does it have the same heater requirements of 6550/KT88? What can the screens handle? etc...

Thanks Jim. Mmm according to the datasheet its only 5mm taller then a Standard KT88 and is the same width. Must be one full bottle!
I know its probably a preliminary datasheet - no curves etc - but there enough there to make me want a quad or two. Could make a real nice class A amp from these....
Curves? Click the link!
Those curves are nasty looking and imply poor linearity. When you add the high heater draw and low control grid to ground resistance tolerance, the type is (IMO) singularly unimpressive.
Never loose sight of the fact that New Sensor's primary market is guitar players. Audiophiles are a very distant 2nd. The KT120 might have some uses in musical instrument amplifiers. I can't see it being good for HIFI.

Thanks again.
A quick look at the curves vs a 6550A it biases up pretty similar in triode but in Pentode it runs more then a bit hotter - I don't know if it will be a good idea to blindly plug them into a lot of existing amps especially cathode bias amps.
Anyway the real value of KT120 - on the basis it sounds good - is new designs and for DIYers with existing amps. Hope the new valve designs keep coming.
... for your word on them before investing.
They could be perfect for our dpa150 amp that currently uses 4 x KT88/monoblock. We intended using EL156's until they quit production. This KT120 could be a good option.
Your thoughts and experience are awaited.
Regards, Allen
Allen,
There's none to be had until mid-May. So I have no news for you yet.
Like to see a data sheet on it (that's why I asked if there were a Russian or mil spec equivalent). Sure does look like a classic Tungsol style 6550, from the outside.
Thanks, for your response.
