Hello,
I bought 3 5Y3G-ST tubes and received them today. One is obviously not a 5Y3. It has no identifying tube type mark and testing it with the 5Y3 settings of my tester, it goes out of scale!
Here's the tube..
Info I can find on the tube is that it is made by RCA with 61-09 number, black dual plates, full round mica support at the top and bottom getter.
Could this be a 5V4 or a 5U4? Any comments for those using one regarding its performance?
Thanks for your help and I really appreciate your input.
regards,
Abe

Also possibly 5Z4G, another indirectly heated rectifier. Look closely at the glass after breathing on it (RCA usually put the number above the octal keyway)
NT!
Likely 5V4 & a very nice tube. 5V4 has less voltage drop than 5Y3s for higher B+ output at same current draw.
Thank you very much for the info.
regards,
Abe
