These are not the vintage that most people hunt for, but they resemble others that I have seen from this era. If I remember, Mcintosh was a big customer/distributor for these. Was this the era of the first MC-275 re-issue?
But without a little bit better pictures it's tough to tell. Although I don't recall ever seeing anyone "fake" the GEC from this era.
I'm sure others will chime in with more specialized knowledge, but it doesn't really set my alarm bells off.
At that price I'd like to know if they were matched or something. You can buy MANY new TESTING singles from the earlier GEC vintages, match yourself up a near perfect quad, sell the extras and probably come in at UNDER half the price he's asking.
Someone's gonna pay a real premium for the shiny tubes and pretty boxes in this auction.

These are genuine but they were the last produced out of the GEC plants in great Britain in the early 80s..They bring the same money as the others and some say these are better than the 60s and 70s genelex which I dont doubt as I never thought they were that great to begin with. The new Gen kt88 actually beats the vintage gec and gens in many areas.
I personally like the 6550 TS black plates.

The best tube I ever heard. Unfortunately unless your source was PERFECT they could sound too revealing. But man oh man did they sound good.
Thats just it..So many people may do a tube roll or a coupling cap upgrade or filter caps or whatever and they say gee, this is wrong or thats wrong..You always have to do complementary upgrades so it sounds right..
