Don't stress about the heat with that amp - just enjoy the music. Its a great little amp. I've had the Prologue II for over 2 years now with no problems at all. Try tube rolling with it - its a blast. I've found that the SED 6L6GC and SED EL34 work best for me. Those preamp tubes change the sonic character quite noticeably as well... Have fun!
Follow Ups:
snowmiser,
130 degrees F mesured on the closest surface to the amp... Worry or not?

Maverick2,
You are right, the PL1 is a great little amp. Did you have the One before you got the Two? If you did would you comment on the sonic differences???
Tube Rolling? What's that :)? All of the tubes in the little beast have been replaced. The AX7's are now Telefunkens, the AU7's are RCA silver tops and the Power tubes are Tung-Sol EL-34's.
I have some more Telefunken and RCA clear tops on order... I am hearing a veil on the mids that I am trying to get rid of...
I am thinking that I'll give a different type of power tube a go (KT-66 or 6L6GC) down the road or maybe a Two of maybe a Ayre, maybe a Mac. The cash that I have in tube would probably fund a new amp :).

I've not heard the Prologue I, but you can use the same tubes in either. My configuration for about two years now has been the SED EL34's, Sylvania 5963's (in place of the 12AU7's), and Sovtek 12AX7LPS. I thought the midrange magic here couldn't be beat, but I recently switched in some SED 6L6GC's and they're beautiful. What a midrange. I lost a little bass to the 34's but the soundstage is much deeper. I've also tried the the stock KT88's (Chinese) and Tung Sol 6550's, which were both ok, but were missing the midrange magic, at least for me.Are the Tungsol EL34's you have those new reissues? I've been curious as to the sound of those.
Speakers are Joseph Audio RM22si's, CDP is Arcam CD73. Nordost cabling.

Hi Matt,
Yes, the One and the Two can use a lot of the same tubes. That is one of the reasons that I am thinking about an "upgrade" to the Two. I am still working on the Mids (vocals) and highs in my system so I'll keep your tube configuration in mind. The 6L6GC's are mighty tempting but I am holding off changing the tubes for a while.
The Tung-Sol's that I picked up are the "new reissues" and compared to the stock Primaluna tubes... there is no comparison. Bass is tighter and the mids are positioned much better and the highs are better (still not *there* yet). Keep in mind that I have only heard the stock EL-34's and the Tung-Sol's.
Speakers are Paridigm Studio 60's with Merlin TSM-MMe's ready to "plug-in", CDP is Marantz SA11-S1. Cabling is in flux right now, the interconnects are some locally brewed silver (believe it or not I pulled my Audience AU-24's out in favor of these :) ) and currently I am using the best "monster cable" that Best Buy has to drive the speakers with. The Monster cable could be what is causing the problems that I am hearing in the mids and highs; thinking about geting some Kimber but I need an nuts amount, 40 ft per side, of it!

Try some of this. I have a pair of S-8 that really like this super-high strand count silver plated copper wire. The price is cheap enough. Better air and larger soundstage than with AQ Bedrock cables I was using.
