I am considering this cd player and would appreciate any feedback. It uses a tube or tubes in the analog section.
Will be using it with Mcintosh MC7150 amp & C38 preamp. I
don't live anywhere close to be able go and listen to the
cd player. Would be buying mailorder. It has dual 20 bit
Burr-Brown DACS & has HDCD Pacific Microsonics digital filter chip. Has anyone out there listened to this unit?
Does Dynaco still make quality eqiupment? Thanks for the
feedback.
If you're looking for a CDP with a tube output section, I think you'd be better off with the Jolida 602 for less money.Thomas
I believe Dynaco is out of business again. To digress, how do you like the sound of your C38? Have you compared it to any other preamps?
Hello all,Hadn't herd they were going out of business...I talked to the folks at Panor a week or two ago, and they didnt seem as they no longer made Dynaco. As far as I know, J&R is the only place to buy Dynaco, so maybe sales slipped too far for them to stay around???
Anyway...I have the PAS4 tube pre and really like it. Its a quality, well built unit. Sounds absoloutly wonderful, after u get the junk Wima metalized caps outa there! I dont think the CD players are built in the US like the amps and preamps...I believe that the older CDV1 was built in Korea in the same plant as Proton gear. The newer CDV2 and Pro are built in Japan, by Marantz\Philips, I think.
A friend of mine, who also has a PAS4, has a CDV1. I would say the CDV1 is a nice player. Not built to the quality of their preamp, but still nice. It has a Philips transport, like the current models. It has a nice smooth sound [for a CD player].
I'm also a bit curious about the performace of the CDV Pro. I've been trying to convince myself to get one...but with the comming of SACD later this fall, its hard for me to justify spending $800 on a outdated technology [I much prefer the outdated technology of vinyl]. From what I've been told, the CDV Pro is one of "the" bang-for-the-buck CD players on the market today. I've never herd one, but everyone I've communicated with who has one claims them to be impossible to beat at their price.
Hope I was of some help
:-)
StevePS...Panor\Dynaco's phone # is 516-434-1200 if U want to call em.
Maybe they aren't out of business. There were several posts in the newsgroups to this effect, their webpage disappeared, they are no longer listed in Audio's buyer's guide and J And R suddenly reduced the price on the cdv pro to $599. J and R also no longer lists hardly any Dynaco products so...
I took a quick look at J and R's page and they now have the price back up to $699! and say they are on order. If they are still in business then good for them. Either way J and R seems to playing some strange pricing games.
