Anybody have experience with the Creek picking up RF or producing an incredible hummm??? Granted the volume needs to be up to hear it coming through your speakers but it's awfully noticeable.I'm using it in conjunction with a Jolida 302B and a Sota Comet Turntable with a Grado reference platinum. Any advice on cables, shielding ... would be helpful.

mine was humming till i connected a groundwire from the record deck to the chassis ground nut on the back of the obh-8. have u tried this?
Unfortunately, I live within less than three miles of three separate television transmitter towers here in Washington, DC. These are pumping megawatts of RF into the air, and everything in my house that is powered by a wall-wart powersupply is picking up the signal. This includes a keyboard and a telephone (which picks up the TV station audio quite clearly) as well as my OBH-8SE, which produces an objectionably audible hum in the right channel. So far, I have reduced the noise level by replacing the connecting cable between the preamp and the power supply with a shielded cable (altho grounding the shield does not seem to help). Ferrite rings have not proved effective. I'm still working. If I find something that really works, I'll post in the vinyl area. I'm going to try RF chokes and possibly mounting both the power supply and the preamp board inside one metal chassis.For now, the only thing I can suggest is experimenting with coiling or moving the power pigtail in a position that minimizes the RF pickup.
Mine works fine. But I am in the middle of nowhere. There have been several comments here in the past, however, about RF problems with this phono stage in areas close to transmission towers. Do a search in the vinyl archives, and you'll find a few previous discussions about this. I recall that copper shielding may be of some benefit.n
