Please correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Thorsten analyse the circuit and say that you need a 12AX7 in V2, a 6072 or 12AY7 in V1, and 5751 (or 12AT7, 12AU7, or 6072)in V3.
Am I thinking of another unit?
I would sure like to know, because i am wanting one of these too and now I am confussed.
I took Thorsten direction on my EAR, and he was right, you can get more detail, more of an up front sound with 12ay7's and 12at7's. Bought a lot of tubes, had fun, but, ended up with 3 telefunken nos 12ax7's. After a few hours of burn it was just right. Most noticeable was applause on live ablums (Bassey, Goldfinger, at Carnegie Hall),the bacon stopped sizzzling.
I have never looked back. Top to bottom, front to back, I got the performance Iwas looking record after record. My $.02.
