is a 6922 pretty much all in the same? Searching on ebay I'll see 6922's offered seperately for amps, preamps or both. Will one fit all? thanks in adv-gl____________//________________

All are electrically the same or very close. The key is the different manufactures are sonically different. This make owning tube audio equipment a pleasure due to being able to tune your circuit for best quality sound.

Yes, electrically they are all the same. Soundwise, different story. For more than you probably want to know about sound differences, check Joe's tube lore in the FAQ section of this site.

Sonically the different brands sound different. They will all work in amps and pre-amps but usually the pre-amps require ones with a lower noise and microphonics thresholds, whereas amps put less stress on them and most any can be used, but again they will sound different from another. Different brands are also more or less rugged and succeed or fail depending on the design of the amp/preamp. Do some research before buying any, especially NOS, and try to get referrences from folks who have you make and model of amp/preamp.
