any one tried this was of KT 88 connection?I need 18 watts per ch and wonder if it will sound good. But there are lots of non UL pp that sounded quite good....
Thanks
Follow Ups:
It is possible to get 18 W in SE pentode mode with KT88 running close to it`s max. dissipation, say Pa=40 W. Two problems - high distortion and very low damping factor demand rel. high negative feedback. Maybe you can take into consideration PP, triode connected?

Thanks Damir, I was thinking of converting my EL 519 EAR SE amp. But I guess I will just stick to EL 519 type with 12-14 watts output. Anyway, I have a pair of Quad II waiting to be converted, and they sud be around 25 watts...Best rgds,
Try an Ei KT-90, that'll get you to 18 watts more than likely. The type IIs have 50 watt dissipation too, and are well built.
