.........and the auction has 20 hours to go! What gives? Something special regarding these tubes? Glad I been collecting black plate Raytheon, CBS & Westinghouse 5751, 12AX7 & 5751 tubes.

The second high bidder has received three negatives out of his last five feedbacks, the winning bidder would be a FOOL to pay the final bid price. This doesn't even take into account that the second high bidder retracted a bid near the end of this auction.
Looks like the auction was essentially between two people. Goes to show you what can happen when two "audiophools" with wallets as big as their egos get into a bidding war.Damn, I think I might have a couple of those. I should contact the loser and give him a deal at $300!

No deal as the tubes were not even matching. I would hold out for the $396.

Crazy. I picked up 5 NOS windmills 2 years ago for $20 total in original boxes.

I picked up a nice NOS pair in crisp boxes about three years ago when I was in my collecting phase, for like $60 a pair. I eventually sold them to my buddy for $50/pr and he was quite happy with them in his Metronome tube dac, but unfortunately, he went to audition some others and when he pulled one, a pin stayed in the socket....a moment of silence, please.
I am crazy enough to try using a tool to cut a tiny grove around the pin at the tube base & resolder it! If I was successful, it would be a 'one-shot' install in socket.

Seems to show up in many of these record or overpriced auctions. See the link below for just the recent auctions that he has won.Gerry

I'll sell him one of my pairs of Raytheon 5751s. Matched and both with spinning windmills and little turning millstones inside. ONLY $192.50.
