What NOS pair of 12ax7s would be great for the phono stage of my Scott 222-C? Mullards? Mullard military spec (I think these are CV4004). There are a couple of those up on Audiogon. Or domestic RCAs? Which? Any suggestion appreciated.
Oh...does it matter if they are matched or not?

Mullard cv4004 are a great choice. Telefunken too.
