Hello,I want to know if anyone has experience with these tubes. They have the small plates and gold pins and on the glass envelope is written "Made in Czechoslovokia". I have made a search here and saw little. One person has said it was a copy of the Telefunken. These tubes come in a red, black, and white box.
Thanks for the help.

CM,I have long wanted to try this one, which are pre-JJ Tesla special quality.
These are supposed to be a copy of the amazingly desirable - and $XXX expensive- Telefunken ECC803CC, including the gold pins and A-frame getter supports. The sound is also alleged to be a fairly high percentage of the original. Prices I've seen seem to be around NOS $25 to $40 for graded/selected, so this would be somewhat cheaper than the $575 price and $1200 pair for Telefunkens that one dealer is asking.
I keep reading about these modern replicas, but without anyone comparing them directly. The Sovtek 12AX7LPS is supposed to be a Siemens copy and I think the Ei another Telefunken.
If you try the Tesla, please let us know what you think.
Cheers,
Bambi B
Hi Bambi,Thank you for your information.
Yes, as soon as I acquire some of these I will give a report here and let you know. I have tried the Ei Elite 12AX7EG gold pin tubes and I must say I like them very much. They are on the smooth and warm side of the sound. A well balanced tube. I am looking foward to getting the Teslas.
Thank you for your help.
HI my friend.
I think that it's gonna be some old (new) stock from Czechoslovakia. As you know, Czechoslovakia doesn't exist any more, the state split in 1993 into Czech Republic and Slovak Republic.
If you Have a chance to get it for $low, buy it, don't hesitate these are good tubes.
Is't it ECC 83S, I haven't seen ECC 803, I don't know.

Hi BV,The number I was given was ECC803S. I have not seen the tubes in person.
Can you tell me what NOS tubes would be close to these Teslas?
Thanks very much for your help.
Equivalent replacement is 12AX7, 7025.

Hi BV,So do you think these were produced in the mid-1990's and do you feel they are simular to the Telefunken?
Unfortunately,I don't know Telefunken tubes. I don't think that Tesla ever made any copies of any electron tubes.

You bet they did.Actually the earlier, still yellow ink marked ECC803S are the best TFK frmae grid copies ever made. Today's offered ECC83S frame grids are nearly the same deal, but, for whatever reason, are not as punchy and detailed anymore.

BTW: Tesla made lotsa other "copies" of Western tubes, incl. Philip's EL51. After all, Philips tooled them...

Hi Dieter,How do these compare with the newer production tubes such as the Ei Elite 12AX7?
Thanks,
Clearly a much better tube. More detailed and lower noise floor too. Tesla's also are remarkably consistent.Anyway, the manufacturing of frame grid tubes requires much tighter QA and attention to detail than with ordinary types.
