  I think that these are the tubes I use at the moment. They are Tesla JJ KT88 tubes that I picked up from ebay in the UK about a year ago with red lettering on them.

  FWIW - I used these to replace the 6550 WE Sovtek tubes that originally came with my amp see link below. The change was mind boggling. at least in this incarnation of a tube amp there was simply no comparison in the sound. It was the sort of change I would normally associate with changing speakers rather than rolling tubes.

  The results were so impressive, in fact, that the manufacturer now offers KT88's as an alternative to the standard fitting 6550.

  (Of course non of you mentioned the JJ spec - so maybe it is a different tube - in which case ignore the above).

  Watch out for the import taxes . Ask the supplier to be 'creative' on the customs form otherwise you may be looking at 15% import tax plus the USPS surcharge .
