I would like to share my tube rolling experience on Cary SLP-2002.
I got my Cary SLP2002 broke it in for about 200 hours, since I use a SS power amp, SLP2002 was very detail, transparent, excellent resolution, but it didn't have the tube mid range magic I expected. I call Cary Dennis and got some advice and start to tube roll.
This amp come with Sovtek 6922 front end and EH 12AU7 as follower. It is a tube roller's dream preamp. It can use 6CG7, 6FQ7, 6H30, 6DJ8 to replace 6922 front end, it can take 5751, 8417, 12AX7 to replace 12AU7 follower.
Well I might not try them all, but I tried most of them.
RCA 6FQ7 Cleartop, Side getter, with RCA 12AU7 Cleartop, Side getter. It give me the midrange magic I was looking for, wide and deep sound stage, a little softer base, sweet highs.
Amperex 6DJ8 white label with Sylvania 5751 Gold Brand. It is very similar with the RCA combo, it take the performance one step higher than the RCA combo, but much more expensive and harder to find. If you want tube magic disregard cost, this is the combo to go, but I could live very happy with the RCA combo also.
Sovtek 6H30 with Jan Philip 5814A, This combo is different from above two combo. It is has very good bass control, much better than the 6922 and 12AU7 come with the preamp. It is much quiter, better resolution, more dynamic, clear mid and extended highs. If you want to listen to rock or pop, then this is the combo to go!
Sylvania 6CG7 is pretty good also.
Sylvania 6922, Sylvania 12AU7, 12AX7, Jan Philip 6922 not good.
Is there any other suggestion?

Thanks MJ for sharing your experience. My present tube inventory in my 2002 is Telfunken 6DJ8s and Bugle Boy 7316s. Mullard "box plate" CV4003s are a very good substitute for the 12Au7s. Standard Bugle Boy 12AU7s and Siemens 5814As don't have the dynamics or extension of the 7316s and 4003s.The Mullards go for around $70 matched pair. the 7316s are expensive.
You might register your system. It helps for the other members to keep up with your progress since it can be updated as you upgrade. Thanks again for posting. I wish more Cary owners of the newer equipment would do it too.

I could not find BB 7316s and Mullard CV4003s tube info or suppliers. Can you tell me where did you get those tubes? And how does it sound?

There are a couple ads for the Mullard CV-4003's in the Asylum's classifieds.

I'm glad you registered. From the inventory of your system, you are one of us audiofools. Very nice!! ATSI had the Mullard CV4003s at around $70 a matched pr. Tube World has BB and Amperex 7316s at $230/pr. You need to find the World Tube Forum and check the Directory for NOS sellers. Audiogon also has some good buys.
